Solar Energy

Solar Energy The disadvantages of PVs is their high price per watt - typically £6 or more - and for much of the year, you would be unlikely to see more than 5 hours operation per day. We have sourced some individual cells which reduces the price per watt to under £1.

These cells are 'seconds' from one of the largest manufacturers in the USA. They have been rejected for many reasons - wrong colour shade, chipped or cracked corners, poor soldered connections etc. Most of these panels will exceed the manufacturer's performance data (given below):

Solar Energy Performance

Solar Energy Performance (Under standard test conditions of 100 mW/sq cm)

Peak Power--1.36 Watts
Current (max power)--3.02 amps
Voltage (max power) .45 V (each cell)
Open Circuit Volts--.55 volts
Short Circuit Current--3.6 amps

Price per watt £0.92
Price per 1.36W panel £1.25
